Calling all Castle Vale Groups

Active Arts Castle Vale and the Castle Vale Events Committee are working together to bring a fantastic opening and closing to this summer’s Community Games. Inspired by the 2012 Olympics we want groups from Castle Vale to get involved in two parades that shows off the best of Castle Vale in a fun and lively way.

Groups of all kinds – scouts, sports, youth, arts, community etc – we want you to get involved. For the opening ceremony we want groups to make flags representing themselves as part of a parade that will walk up to where the first event of the week will be held on Tuesday 31st July.

The closing parade on Saturday 4th August will see a procession of trolley floats make their way around Centre Park to mark the end of the highly anticipated successful week. Anyone who was at Carnival 2011 will have seen this fun take on a traditional carnival activity which starts with abandoned trolley’s transformed into fantastic creations.

If you’d like to make a flag and/or a trolley and get involved in either parade, please contact claire.marshall@mac.com and you can also check on both our websites for further details www.activearts.wordpress.com and www.cveventscommittee.wordpress.com

If you’re not in a group but would still like to be involved then look out for the workshops we will hold building up to and throughout the Community Games week.

Fantastic Awards Evening 2011

Thank you to all who came to the fantastic awards Evening last Friday 25th November at Castle vale Residents Club.

It was a great evening with wonderful performances and of course the opportunity to thank all the nominees and winners for their contributions to Castle Vale.

Please see the dedicated page for the full details of nominees, winners and performers.

Return to see the photos as they start to come in and please do leave us feedback which will help us plan next years event.

Voting Closed, Time To Get Tickets

As you may have already seen, the votes have been counted and independently verified and the awards are being engraved ready for Friday.

So it’s time to get your tickets ready for the big night.  If you’ve been nominated or a sponsor you should have already received your tickets.  For all others who wish to attend, you can contact us directly or ask at the TRA who will take your details and then we’ll get in touch.

There is a cracking line up of entertainment planned with dancing from Jack (did you see him at Carnival) and regular singing talents  from Castle Vale: Laura Green; Michael Hayes and the TRA’s own Katie Green with her group Bella Mafia.  And if that wasn’t exciting enough you can join in with some Zumba from Christine McGuinness and break into some dance moves once the official part of the evening is done.

Of course there are also raffle prizes so bring your loose change!

We look forward to seeing you there and send congratulations to all the nominees.
